Wow! Now, I'm even more confident that taking three personal days off during the last week in February was a better choice than visiting while out on Winter Break this week. Not that my Principal is really appreciating my choice... ;-)

bnoble

he's right
Will you have FP+ for the park? Three FP+ plus shows will easily cover you until the crowds subside, I'd guess.

THE RULES!!!

We were planning on some of those Dinoland rides in the evening w/o FP. Everyone seemed to think my plan was okay the other day, but now I'm Wondering.

Eek. But at least it's not hot, right? :RpS_blink:

ETA this I found on an "unnamed" crowd calendar
At Magic Kingdom we predicted a crowd level of 7. The actual crowd level was an 8
At Epcot we predicted a crowd level of 9. The actual crowd level was a 9
At Disney's Hollywood Studios we predicted a crowd level of 7. The actual crowd level was a 9
At Disney's Animal Kingdom we predicted a crowd level of 7. The actual crowd level was a 9

I'm here now. We went to HS yesterday and the morning was fine. Opened early, walked onto TSMM. Hit the bathroom, walked to RnR and the line was already at 80 minutes! :RpS_w00t:

Skipped it and went to ToT. 15 min wait, by time we got off the wait was up to 25, a short while later, 40. By 10:30 it was 60 min.

It was busy, but with RD and FPP we managed every ride/show we wanted. Just not when we wanted them. Used a kiosk for FPP, and we got the last spot for RnR at 7:30 that night.

ETA: we got on the TSMM ride at 8:58 (before official park opening) and when we got off, the wait was already at 45 minutes.

does anybody know how to change this?

You think after years of posting their "corrected after the fact" crowd levels that they'd just get it right in the first place. It's not like those corrections help anyone, unless they've got a time machine in their pocket so they can go back and make the right decision on the park to visit. Oh wait, they don't need that, they could just use EasyWDW and be right the first time! :RpS_cool:

So are we on 3/29. Yikes, I'm nervous. I guess if we have an epic fail we can make a rope drop another day.

I'm happy we chose next week instead. We leave in 3 days, arrive in 5 and hopefully the worst of those crowds are gone...

We were at MK on Saturday, Feb 15th to let my DD meet some of her gymnast friends from when we lived in Virginia. Park opened at 8 am which is when we hit the turnstiles...the opening show was going on as we unboarded from the ferry. Here's what we rode:
PP
VoLM
Barnstormer x2
Dumbo
Winnie the Pooh
Merida (waited about 15 min...since she didn't come out until 9:15 am)
Skipped IASW (line was about 15 min long)
HM
JC
PotC
BTMRR (FP+ 10:10-11:10 that I changed from late afternoon about a hour before)
Waited for Friends...watched Daper Dans...waited some more
SM (FP+ 11:10-12:10) closer to 12:10
Buzz (FP+ 12:10-1:10) got in long FP line at 12:00...line wrapped almost to Monsters Inc Laugh Floor entrance
Finally DD's friend showed up...friend's dad asked if we wanted to get into the 70 min line for SM...we declined :-0
Peoplemover (gave time for the girls to chat and still "experience" a ride)
Monster Inc Laugh Floor

It was about 1:30 at that time and could barely move in TL. My DD said she had visited enough, so we left to go to IoA to meet other gymnast friends. They knew nothing of the new FP+ system and were wary of making any "reservations" because they were meeting other friends later on. Still not a bad morning at MK...when I told the other family what we did, I really don't think they believed me.

Now IoA was another story...we got there at 3 pm and it was packed. My DD had 4 gymnasts friends that we met there so we were a gaggle of about 15 people slowly moving around letting the girls catch up which was great. Got a few rides in, but we waited until the last 2 hours to really try to ride anything and it paid off. Hulk, Cat in the Hat, Dragons x2, Harry Potter, Griffon, and few others that the girls rode.

You know what is scarry? This first picture is dining reservations availability at epcot today. The 2nd is next Monday. It looks WORSE. And I'm planning on being there that day! The third is garden grill for next week. Tuesday looks the best but is the not recommended park that day.

Is it the marathon screwing all of this up?

Marathoners and their families that visit the parks are some of the more savvy Disney vacationers, more likely to book reservations. Free Dining may also be a promotion over those two sort of down weeks before spring break really gets going. I wouldn't read too much into dining reservation availability.
