First Annual easyWDW Fantasy Football League

Now that we are half way through the season, I have made a couple of realizations.

Micah, you were right and wrong. I am the type of person that would enjoy fantasy football. The number crunching, analyzing, averaging, etc. is right up the alley for a nerd like me. You were wrong in thinking that I would start to enjoy watching NFL games. In fact, for the first couple of weeks, I watched games to figure out what to do. That was a mistake. My "eyes" don't have any idea what they are seeing but the numbers don't lie. So, instead while millions care about the games, I've only grown to care about the stats presented afterwards on NFL.com.

With that said, many of my board game playing nerds are now intrigued and want me to host a league next year for them to try. I am looking forward to introducing them next year, but also know that the 40k players in the group will kick my arse, because they are far bigger stats nerds.

Anyone care to bet on whether or not my team can break 40 Pts this week?
Well, the good news is that you broke 40 (and even broke 50), but looks like you are headed towards the lowest score of the week. Sorry.

I could kick myself over last minute changes I made. I would have barely won if I had let it be:RpS_cursing:
I get how frustrating it is (just look at my record). But, if you made the right decision at the time, then don't beat yourself up. No one could have known that RGIII would get hurt, and that Jimmy Graham would score 2 TDs on his very limited 3 catches. Just remember that your opponent usually could have played better too... so that can go both ways.

Even if you don't know what you are looking at... I still think it is fun to watch just to root for (or against) certain players, and watch your scoring happen in "real-time".

Glad you are enjoying it... and it should be fun to start a league of your own next year and get some new people involved. (We are board game nerds too)

lowest score of the week... AGAIN. I tell ya though, if my team could get healthy they'd be awesome. IF ONLY THEY'D GET HEALTHY!!! I;m starting to lose hope that that will ever happen.

Even though I'm losing miserably, I've had fun with owning a team. My husband plays fantasy football every year and wants to watch all the games. Usually it's miserable but this year I've enjoyed watching along. He laughs at me because I complain about my team so much. :)

When do playoffs start again Micah??
The playoffs in Yahoo go from Week 14 to Week 16 (basically the month of December). The top 6 teams in each league will make it, and the bottom 4 will be in a Consolation Round (playing for 7th place). On the main League page in Yahoo, there is a "Playoffs" link right by the Standings. It will show you what the matchups would be if the playoffs started right now,

In Fantasy Football most leagues have their Championship Week 16 of the NFL season, since Week 17 can potentially have teams resting players which can really mess up Fantasy teams. Even Week 16 sometimes has a little of this, but not as bad as Week 17.

Also, I will be running a separate "Tournament" across the two leagues. This will probably start in Week 13, since I will need one extra week to be able to let everyone (either 16 or 20) compete. This will also end Week 16. I will use the total points scored through Week 12 to rank the teams for matchups.

It's so funny, I think my DH sort of rolled his eyes when I told him I was joining this league. (He is in a paid league that's been the same group of guys for 15+ years - they take it VERY seriously - and he has won, at least some portion of the prize money, at least 10 times). So now, every Sunday about about 11am, I sit down next to him and say "Do you have a minute to look over my roster with me?" Again, more eye rolling. But today I texted him that I was winning my league this week, and he is so excited!
We've always been a very sports-oriented family, I honestly love watching the games every week, so it hasn't been a complete 180 for me to be in a Fantasy League. I just think he's surprised at how much fun we've both been having with this "no-buy-in, just-for-fun league!"

Losing Justin Blackmon hurt. I have put up T. Pryor and S. Jackson on the trading block if anyone is interested.
